MCA (Master of Computer Applications) is a three years Master’s degree program. The course is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge of computer science, with emphasis on applications.
The 6th Semester is dedicated to the project work, to be done in the industry. The three year full time MCA course is not just a postgraduate course, but also a complete professional grooming of the student for a successful career in the IT Industry. Objective
MCA is a course exclusively designed to meet the IT requirements of IT Trained Students for various organizations. The well balanced course significantly emphasizes on planning, designing and building of complex commercial application software and system software. The course also places equal importance on the functional knowledge in various areas. The course curriculum for MCA has been designed specifically to meet the demands of the current IT oriented market.
The duration of the M.C.A. (Master of Computer Application) course extends over Three years with six semesters, spreading up equally over three academic years. Each semester is of 12-16 weeks duration, besides the time spent for examinations. It has courses in computer science, mathematical science and management. With subjects such as WEB Technology, Distributed Systems, Software Engineering, Computer based Numerical & Statistical Techniques, Data & File structure Using C, Operating System, Internet JAVA programming, Computer Organization, Data Communication and Computer Network, DBMS, Object Oriented Programming and C++, Computer Graphics and Animation, Algorithm design and Analysis, System Analysis and Design, UNIX and C Programming, Combinatorics, Graph Theory and Fundamentals of E-Commerce. The course curriculum also lays stress upon management courses namely Accounting and Financial Management, Management Information System, Organizational Structure & Personnel Management.
The course curriculum offers electives in latest fields like offered are Compiler Design, Discrete Structures, Client Server Computing, Distributed Database System, Parallel and Distributed Algorithms, Advanced Computer Networks, Real Time Systems, International Business and Marketing, Theory of formal Languages and Automata, Multimedia System, Advanced concepts in Database Systems and Object Database.
A project (Industrial training) in the 6th Semester of the course for a period of four months is mandatory for all students. The training would be exclusively for software development in either commercial application or systems. The project is aimed at implementing all analysis, designing & programming tools that have been learnt during the entire course curriculum.
