Mechanical - 120 Seats
Mechanical engineering is the second largest engineering discipline and one of the oldest. Mechanical engineers apply the principles of mechanics and energy to the design of machines and devices. Mechanical engineers are involved with the design of structures, operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
Course
In addition to the basic engineering sciences, the programme in mechanical engineering lays emphasis on the analysis and synthesis involved in the design, manufacture and operation of prime movers, pumps, compressors, machine tools, mass production technique etc. Design, operation & maintenance of machine & their components, mechanisms, machine tools, manufacturing systems & processes, components of terminal power system including internal combustion engine & turbo-machinery, solar energy, heat transfer, air-conditioning, refrigeration & industrial engineering including production, planning & control-both the fundamental & & applied aspects leading to these areas.
Mechanical engineering is one of the most lucrative career options and offers plenty of job opportunities in every field of work. Mechanical Engineering has all time demand and its spectrum grows with advance in other areas of Technology. Several companies in the fields of defense, entertainment, health, design, manufacturing, transport, building and research recruit individuals with profound knowledge in this segment of engineering.
Mechanical engineers design automobiles, trucks, airplanes, and trains for transportation; tractors for food production; interplanetary space vehicles; copying machines, fax machines, staplers, and mechanical pencils used in the office; and lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses used in the manufacture of goods. Mechanical engineers also design and operate power plants and are concerned with the economical combustion of fuels, the conversion of heat energy into mechanical energy, and the use of the mechanical energy to perform useful work. New areas include Robotic inspection systems, Cyrogenic technology for material treatment, Laser material processing etc.
Any physical system, be it power, communication, computer or machinery, has to manufactured, operated , monitored or manipulated by mechanical engineering. In fact, no industry can run without its retinue of Mechanical engineers: be it Design, Erection, Commissioning, R & D, Production. Globalization, signing of GATT, overseas collaborations, transfer of technology etc call for high quality standards and technology up gradation at all levels in the industry, where in a Mechanical Engineer has an important role to play.
Departmental Faculty InfrastructureThe Department of Mechanical Engineering has experienced, well qualified and dedicated faculty. State-of-art laboratories and workshops form an integral part of the Department. The infrastructure is updated on regular basis. The Department provides congenial environment both to the students and the faculty for ushering their professional competency and technical proficiency.
Keeping such requirement in mind competent and experienced faculty of our Mechanical Engineering department prepares the students by giving ample assignments, conducting test, allowing extra industrial Practice/ Testing at concern local or nearby industries, national level Research & Testing institutions like EQTC, CSIR, INDO-GERMAN TOOL ROOM, INGERSOLE RAND, JYOTI LIMITED, Etc.
The infrastructure facilities presently available at the department facilitate students to develop their skill and knowledge within the framework of curriculum prescribed by the RGPV Technical University.

Teaching Learning Process
The college arranges for technical field visits in conformity with the curriculum. The faculty and students have access to EDUSAT, a distance-learning programme – an initiative of the Astral, The faculty can access and browse textbooks and journals through DELNET, an open source for information promoted by the UGC and Ministry of Education, New Delhi. The faculty and students have unlimited and free access to INTERNET through the college Internet browsing centre.
